In 2019, One of the UK’s youngest female paedophiles was jailed for sexually abusing children as young as two years old. Sophie Elms was just 18 years old, at the time she was sentenced making her one of the youngest women in the country to be convicted of these types of offences, and at the time of committing these atrocious crimes,she was studying childcare with a long term aim of working with incredibly young children in the future. Sophie Elms, of Royal Wootton Bassett, was 16/17 when she committed offences including sexual assault of a child, distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornographic images of an animal.Elms was babysitting toddlers when she filmed herself abusing them and sent the images to known sex offenders. The childcare student, who had been groomed as a girl of 13, sent the vile material to at least four men.Sophie Elms came across as a law-abiding young woman from a 'really nice family' but the Swindon teen had been groomed by men on the internet since the age of 13. Ex-policeman David Geering, 59, met her online in 2017 and seized the opportunity. He instructed her to abuse infant sisters and send images and videos to him.Teenage paedophile Sophie Elms was groomed online by a disgraced former murder squad detective. And she was also in contact with a respected lawyer who is also now serving a lengthy jail term of 13 years for his offending. Sophie Elms photographed and filmed the abuse, with footage showing one of the victims “screaming in distress” and sent it to two men.On leaving school, she enrolled at Swindon College, which runs several ‘early years’ childcare programmes, She had done safeguarding training at college. Elms was on a placement at a local nursery as part of a course in childcare at the time, but police said the crimes did not take place at the nursery or college. Elms, a childcare student at Swindon College, was arrested after police traced images discovered on a convicted sex offender's mobile phone back to her.Her Victims: Sophie Elms, outwardly at least, seemed sensible and good-natured. She had done safeguarding training at college. She ticked all the boxes for the couple who would hire her to look after their beloved children aged two and three years old.Not in a million years would they have imagined she might harm their little girls, let alone do so sexually.Sophie Elms was jailed for seven years and 10 months at Swindon Crown Court.
