Known as the "Vampire of Paris," Claux's activities came to a head on November 15, 1994. Crime scene investigators arrived at his run-down apartment in Paris's red-light district, near the famous Moulin Rouge.Claux, a 22-year-old mortician, had been under investigation for a series of homophobic shootings. He had been arrested earlier that day after a five-week manhunt, following his attempt to buy a video recorder using a stolen credit card and forged ID belonging to Thierry Bisogne, a man who had been shot dead in his apartment just hours earlier.
