

Just north of Nashville, in the small town of Cross Plains, Tennessee, Jennifer Wix was becoming a wonderful mother. It was 2004 and her beautiful daughter, Adrianna, had just turned two years old. While Jennifer had previous plans to obtain work in either equine therapy or as a park ranger, sadly she was now making plans to escape an unsafe home. Jennifer was living at the time with her boyfriend, Joey Benton, and his parents. Parties got wilder, Joey's temper got shorter, and his parents had increasing animosity toward Jennifer and her daughter. During one of her last interactions with Joey's mother, Jennifer and Adrianna's food was thrown on the ground outside and she was instructed to go "eat like the dogs do." The only thing we know with certainty in the moments leading up to the disappearance of the two girls, is that Adrianna had a new and concerning diagnosis, and Jennifer had decided fully that she would not be spending another night under that roof.
