Episode 38 - On May 16th, 2022, the partial remains of a woman were discovered in a garbage bin behind an apartment building in Winnipeg. The resulting investigation pointed towards the work of a serial killer and as time went on more people would be linked to this case. As of now in 2025, 4 indigenous women have been officially identified as victims however, finding these women’s bodies was a different story and one that was compounded heavily by politics. The investigation into finding some of the missing women was stalled and resisted. But why? In this episode we are going to discuss the timeline of the murders, who committed these crimes, and why recovering the bodies was delayed and even disregarded by both police and the provincial government.   SHOW NOTES TRANSCRIPT FRIDAY, May 26, A VIDEO FOOTAGE Serial killer tells Winnipeg police his killings were racially motivated Court hears video evidence of Jeremy Skibicki's confession to Winnipeg police | CBC.ca Winnipeg serial killer admits racial motivations in confession video Jeremy Skibicki confesses to killing four women Video showing admitted serial killer with two of four victims played at trial | Watch News Videos Online   A timeline of what we know about 4 slain Winnipeg women and serial killer Jeremy Skibicki | CBC News Police begin search of Winnipeg landfill for remains of homicide victim found dead in May | CBC News Victims were overpowered, choked and drowned in a bathtub Alleged Winnipeg serial killer threatened to kill 2 previous partners, court records reveal | CBC News Accused killer's allegedly hate-filled online presence should be factored into investigation, trial: experts | CBC News (1) Man arrested in Rebecca Contois murder charged with 3 more homicides: Winnipeg police - Winnipeg | Globalnews.ca Alleged serial killer in custody and charged in killings of 4 Indigenous women in Canada, police say | CNN Winnipeg serial killer seen with victims in video footage played at trial | CBC News Canadian man charged with murdering four Indigenous women | Canada | The Guardian Estranged wife has protection order against man charged in killing of 24-year
