During the previous week in Omaha, Nebraska, several criminal incidents and law enforcement operations were reported. On June 23 at approximately 8:30 p.m., near Interstate 80 and 50th Street, a Nebraska State Trooper was injured when a large truck struck the trooper's patrol vehicle. The trooper was conducting traffic control to assist the Omaha Police Department with a single-vehicle crash that was blocking the shoulder and one lane. The incident is under investigation.Over the Independence Day weekend, from July 3 through July 6, statewide enforcement resulted in 32 arrests for alleged driving under the influence, including at least one reading of .183. Many of these DUI arrests and related citations occurred in the Omaha metro as part of high-visibility patrols around community events. Law enforcement also issued 536 speeding citations, with 26 drivers cited for speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
