According to Omaha Police Department sources and area reports, the following were among noteworthy incidents from the previous week. In the Benson neighborhood, police responded to an alleged aggravated assault at a commercial area late last Friday evening. The victim reported being struck by an unknown party who fled the scene; the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and the incident remains under investigation. Near 21st and Harrison on the city’s south side, officers investigated an alleged residential burglary on Saturday afternoon in which electronics and jewelry were reported stolen. No arrests have been made and detectives urge anyone with information to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers. In the Blackstone District, a vehicle theft was reported Sunday morning after a parked SUV was taken overnight from the street. The vehicle was later recovered undamaged on Monday; the case is closed pending further leads.In the Midtown crossing area, officers on routine patrol conducted a traffic stop late Tuesday that resulted in an arrest for alleged possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The adult male suspect is being held pending formal charges. Near 72nd and Dodge, police were called to a retail theft incident on Wednesday afternoon; according to employees, a suspect fled the store on foot with merchandise. Omaha Police are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect described as a white male, early 30s, approximately 5'9", average build, seen wearing a blue windbreaker and red baseball cap. The case remains open.In North Omaha, a reported domestic disturbance Wednesday evening led to an arrest for alleged domestic assault. Officers took an adult male into custody without incident; charges are pending review by the county attorney. In the Aksarben neighborhood, Thursday afternoon, a fraud investigation was opened after residents reported receiving threatening scam phone calls appearing to come from city offices; the Omaha Police Department urges listeners to exercise caution and not provide personal information to unknown callers.No major injuries were reported in these incidents. Trends observed this week include a continued pattern of opportunistic property crimes at commercial centers and increased scam call activity targeting local residents.
