According to local law enforcement reporting, on Tuesday, August 12, authorities executed a federal operation targeting an alleged human trafficking ring involving area hotels in Bellevue, with activity focused near Fort Crook Road South. Five adults were charged and arrested in connection with the operation, which is now an active federal investigation according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.Earlier in the week, officers investigated alleged burglary activity in the Benson neighborhood. Investigators are seeking public assistance with information regarding the suspect’s identity in this ongoing case.On Thursday, there was a reported assault incident in South Omaha near the Q Street corridor. Responding officers located one adult victim with minor injuries; medical attention was provided on site. No arrests have been made, and detectives are interviewing witnesses as part of their continuing inquiry.Law enforcement maintains an active investigation into a string of vehicle thefts reported throughout the Midtown area during the weekend. Victims reported their vehicles missing from public lots and residential streets. No suspects have been identified, and police are reminding listeners to secure their vehicles and report suspicious activity.The Northeast Omaha area saw an alleged vandalism incident overnight, as several storefronts sustained window damage from thrown rocks. Officers responded quickly, but no suspect description is available and no arrests have been made. Case remains open pending further evidence.Investigators in West Omaha are following up on a reported fraud case at a retail location on Maple Street, after store employees reported a customer allegedly using counterfeit bills during a purchase. The incident is under review by financial crimes detectives.
