In Omaha, the past week saw a major law enforcement operation targeting a human trafficking ring operating out of several motels and eyebrow salons in the area. ICE officers executed raids where 27 people including 10 children under age 12 were rescued from rooms with poor sanitation and evidence of drug trafficking. According to ICE, arrests were made in connection with the alleged sex and drug trafficking operation, with five suspects taken into custody: Kentakumar Chaudhari (also known as Ken Chaudhari), Rashmi Ajit Samani (also known as Falguni Samani), Amit Prahladbhai Chaudhari (also known as Amit), Amit Babubhai Chaudhari (also known as Matt), and Maheshkumar Chaudhari (also known as Mahesh). Authorities seized over $565,000 in cash and drugs. Fourteen others were held in connection with the case, among them Guillermo Infante Arevalo, Eudis Enrique Cuellar-Martinez, and Pablo Martinez Canas. The incident is under investigation and is considered one of the most significant trafficking busts in recent memory. Law enforcement has not requested public assistance in locating additional suspects for this case.In Crete, outside the Omaha area but notable for its impact on state law enforcement resources, a report of an armed suspect inside a university building triggered a lockout at Doane University. Crete Police and Saline County deputies responded rapidly, searching the communications building and campus. Officials confirmed that the incident was a swatting call—a false report meant to provoke a heavy police response—and issued an all-clear after verifying the report was unfounded. There have been no arrests related to the swatting incident, which remains under investigation. Law enforcement continues to caution that the frequency of swatting calls has increased, putting strain on local resources. No suspect descriptions have been released and police are not actively seeking tips from the public for this incident.Listeners should note the ongoing concern of swatting calls affecting police operations and the considerable presence of human trafficking activity in the Omaha region. Coordination between local and federal agencies remains crucial. Any suspicious activity or relevant information can be reported to local law enforcement or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.
