Between April 8 and April 15, 2025, Aurora police responded to several notable criminal incidents in various neighborhoods.On April 12 near E. Alameda Parkway and S. Chambers Road, a shooting occurred involving two adults and three children traveling in a vehicle. After meeting individuals for a suspected transaction, the suspects allegedly took items without paying and fled. The victims followed the suspects, and while traveling southbound on Airport Boulevard near E. Colfax Avenue, an occupant of the suspect vehicle reportedly opened fire. A man was seriously injured, a woman sustained minor injuries, and a 12-year-old girl in the back seat suffered a superficial graze wound. All three children were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Officers later located the suspect vehicle, a GMC Acadia, near N. Jasper Street. Following surveillance, police conducted a traffic stop near S. Peoria Street and E. Mississippi Avenue and arrested the driver without incident. The case is ongoing as investigators continue to gather information.In a separate case, Aurora police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred last week, leaving two individuals wounded. The incident took place in a neighborhood not far from the city center, though no further suspect or case details were released. The investigation remains open as officers seek additional leads.During the same time frame, police responded to reports of a violent home invasion at an apartment complex with a history of criminal activity. An unidentified man and woman, believed to be Venezuelan immigrants, were allegedly assaulted, pistol-whipped, and stabbed by suspected gang members. The victims were moved between apartments on the property. Fourteen individuals present at the scene were detained for questioning as police work to determine which, if any, are connected to the assault. The investigation involves cooperation with federal agencies, including ICE, and remains active as detectives sort out the suspects’ involvement.Aurora police continue to investigate all incidents referenced above.
