Aurora Police Respond to Incidents, Suspect Arrested, Crime Rates Decline

During the week of May 7 through May 13, 2025, Aurora Police responded to several significant incidents across the city. On Monday, May 12, officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person at a business in northeast Aurora. During the response in a parking lot, a confrontation occurred resulting in a fatal shooting. An Aurora police officer was injured and the suspect was killed. The incident remains under investigation by the Major Crimes Homicide Unit, and police are not currently seeking public assistance for additional suspects. On Thursday evening, May 8, in northwest Aurora, a fatal shooting occurred. The Major Crimes Homicide Unit arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the alleged homicide. As the arrestee is a juvenile, no identifying information will be released. The case is still under investigation.No other major incidents requiring public assistance were reported in the past week. Overall, Aurora police report a significant decrease in both property and persons crimes so far this year, with year-to-date incidents down by over 22 percent.No new suspect descriptions have been released for unsolved cases this week.
