That vehicle was subsequently crashed at Tower Road and 40th Avenue after colliding with multiple cars at the intersection. Officers arrested the male suspect following a brief foot chase and a medical evaluation at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is reportedly refusing to cooperate at this time. A female passenger was taken into custody during the initial stop. No injuries to other drivers were reported.In a case dating back to July 5, 2023, east of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge along E. 59th Place, an Aurora man, Orest Schur, was sentenced to 54 years in prison for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. Schur shot two teenagers, killing one, who were allegedly attempting to break into his car. Prosecutors said Schur pursued the teens in his own vehicle rather than calling police, ultimately firing 11 shots, striking both teens as they attempted to flee after crashing their car near E. 58th Circle and E. 58th Avenue. Authorities found no evidence that any weapon was fired except Schur's. This case has concluded following conviction and sentencing.At this time, police have not issued requests for public assistance regarding suspect identification or descriptions in connection with the above incidents.Significant crime patterns over the past week in Aurora include continued issues with vehicle theft and related pursuits, as well as non-fatal shootings at multifamily residences.
