According to KTNV, Henderson experienced several significant incidents in the past week. Early Tuesday, July 15, a fatal shooting took place just after midnight near the eastern part of the Las Vegas valley, around the 3900 block of Mountain Vista Street, reportedly part of a domestic dispute. Two people were found with gunshot wounds; one died at the hospital. Police have stated there is no further public threat and the case remains under investigation.Elsewhere in the northwest valley near Tenaya Way, police are still searching for a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred just after 9 p.m. on Monday. The victim, a man in his early 20s, died at a local hospital. Authorities are actively seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect connected to this incident. Metro’s Homicide Unit and Crime Stoppers are taking tips related to this case.A major pursuit involving a stolen box truck led Henderson officers through multiple neighborhoods including routes around Bonanza Road, Stewart Avenue, Charleston Boulevard, Pecos Road, and the U.S. Highway 95/Interstate 11 corridor. The driver, whom police later determined was under the influence of a controlled substance (“spice”), fled from officers, ran multiple red lights, and drove into oncoming traffic, colliding with a police cruiser and a civilian vehicle before eventually being taken into custody after stopping near Charleston and Fremont. The incident is an example of law enforcement responding to an alleged series of crimes tied to vehicle theft and dangerous driving; the individual is facing numerous charges, and the investigation is ongoing.Henderson’s police department is also notable this week for the official swearing-in of Reggie Rader as the new police chief. Stakeholders, including department staff and area residents, hope that this leadership transition will bring needed stability and reinforce efforts to address key crime-related concerns, such as maintaining adequate staffing and focusing on public safety.Throughout the week there was heightened awareness of a traffic incident on Boulder Highway at Desert Inn, but this did not involve alleged criminal behavior and the scene was later cleared. No other significant Henderson-specific crimes were publicly disclosed during the week; however, listeners should note that cases involving domestic disputes and gun violence were prominent, and efforts to recruit community tips are ongoing for unresolved cases, especially involving suspects still at large.Listeners observing suspicious activity, or with knowledge relevant to open cases, are urged to contact Henderson Police or, for anonymous tips, to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.Thank you for tuning in and remember to subscribe.
