Christie Holt and Marcus Garvin grew up in a little town called Homecroft, Indiana. Christie was raised with four siblings, but at just 12 years old she was forced out of her family home. She found shelter with her aunt and cousins. Marcus, on the other hand, was brought up by his grandparents. Their paths crossed at Perry Township High School. Christie was 16, and in Marcus, she found something she hadn't experienced before: a sense of being seen. For someone who had always felt like she didn’t quite belong, Marcus felt like home.
