Lyons, Nebraska in 1986 was a small town in the northeast part of the state, where everybody knew everyone. Crime was next to nonexistent, not even having their own local jail. It seemed a great place for Anna Marie Anton to restart her life. Recently divorced, 34 year old Anna relocated from her home in Milford, Iowa to Lyons, Nebraska. In December 1986, the peaceful way of life in Lyons was shattered when Anna was discovered missing by one of her neighbors. For 11 days people had no idea what happened to Anna, until her nude body, with two bullet wounds, was discovered in a remote field 20 miles from her home. Suspicion fell on the town’s police chief as he lived in the apartment above Anna and had tried to conceal his relationship with her. A thorough search of Anna’s apartment revealed a blood trail leading up to the police chief’s apartment door. Authorities issued a warrant for him
but the chief had fled. For 6 years he remained on the run until a TV show told of Anna Anton’s murder
and who was still wanted for the crime. Tune in to hear of Anna and how her killer was finally captured.    Sources: “Greg Webb” on Unsolved Mysteries Wiki (https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Greg_Webb) “Small-town police chief charged with murder” by UPI Archives on UPI on January 27, 1987 (https://www.upi.com/Archives/1987/01/07/Small-town-police-chief-charged-with-murder/4543536994000/) “FBI Now Involved in the Search for Missing Lyons Police Chief” by Mike Mulvey in The Lincoln-Journal Star on January 9, 1987 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/101376171/anna_marie-anton#:~:text=The%20body%20was%20found%20frozen,38%20caliber%20gun. “A small-town Nebraska police chief became a murder suspect.
