The attacker, 24-year-old Daniel Gonzalez, moved through the city like a horror-film villain come to life, mask on, knives drawn, and an obsession with becoming a "famous serial killer." Diagnosed with schizophrenia years earlier, Gonzalez had cycled through psychiatric care and warning signs that went unheeded until it was too late.
